Original Nike Mags From Back To The Future II To Be Auctioned This Fall

The Nike MAG is one of the most important shoes in sneaker history, and up until recently, the model only existed fictionally in Back to the Future II. It took Nike decades to make E.A.R.L. technology a reality with a limited run of auto-lacing Nike MAGs auctioned off with proceeds going to the Michael J. Fox Foundation for Alzheimer’s research.

This past weekend at Comic Con San Diego, one of the original Nike MAG sneakers worn by Michael J. Fox’s Marty McFly character was showcased by Prop Store, a movie memorabilia auction house that will be bringing the rare find to auction later this year. This MAG didn’t come equipped with auto-lacing all the way back then, but the fact that the prop was actually featured in the movie should make some movie and sneaker fanatics alike willing to pay the expected $32,000 – $45,000 to own the piece of history. We’ll keep you updated on how much this Marty McFly-worn Nike MAG fetches at auction later in the year. Stay tuned.

The Air Jordan 5 “Deadly Pink” Releases This August For Girls

Jordan Brand introduced a number of new colorways inspired by vintage Jordan Brand apparel with the Jordan 5 Flight Jacket Collection and now it looks like the grade school sizes will be getting a few exclusives in the near future with the Air Jordan 5 Deadly Pink, out August 5th.

The Air Jordan 5 Deadly Pink features a simple black nubuck throughout the upper with the mesh side panel ventilation system receiving an all black overhaul. It looks like Jordan Brand is trying to combat that aggressive yellowing that usually comes with a transparent selection given the recent Red Suede pair going the same route. The midsole ‘shark teeth’ and lining feature a vibrant touch of Deadly Pink while an icy outsole rounds things out for a crisp finish. Check out more detailed shots below and stay tuned for more Jordan Release Dates right here on Sneaker News.

20 Luxury Sneakers To Upgrade Your Wardrobe With This Season

The high-fashion-meets-streetwear wave is at a high tide right now, and the current abundance of luxury sneakers on both the runways and streets is evidence of this trend. While there have been footwear brands founded foremost on the luxury sneaker — ranging from the classically minimalist Common Projects to the more contentious Golden Goose Deluxe — today’s luxury sneaker is essentially the new designer jeans, prompting every high-end and heritage menswear label to push out their own take on the sportswear footwear category.

While some people may find it ludicrous to spend top dollar on a pair of sneakers, others value the artisan craftsmanship, premium materials and reputable design eye of high-fashion designers. Whether it be the justification of cost-per-wear quality or the flexing rights of striking design, luxury sneakers are quickly becoming the top-selling footwear category in the menswear fashion scene.

Below is a selection of some of this season’s most noteworthy luxury sneakers. The list spans between more low-key silhouettes to bolder statement designs, with a sprinkling of different tastes that range from futuristic models to more retro classic styles. Nike PG1 “Blockbuster” Releases This Weekend

The Thunder’s trade for Paul George was the highlight of this off-season and we can’t wait to see the highlight reels featuring reigning MVP Russell Westbrook and PG13 throughout next season. Nike is releasing yet another Nike PG1 that mixes up the materials for a premium look this weekend with the PG1 “Blockbuster” dropping July 22nd for $110 USD. While the light aqua shade contrasting throughout isn’t as close to the royal and yellow colors of the now defunct video rental store, the colorway is noteworthy for the quality of the black leather and off-white branding. Check out more detailed shots below, and in related PG13 news, there’s a new Thunder-themed colorway on the horizon for later this season.

This Nike PG 1 Colorway Is A Good Fit For Paul George’s New Team

We probably won’t see a Thunder-themed Nike PG 1 released at retail – for that you’ll have to create your own NIKEiD PG 1 colorway. It makes enough sense that Nike will lay off the orange and blue combinations given the fact that Paul George isn’t guaranteed to stay in OKC past this season after his contract is up. That being said, this Nike PG 1 Game Royal is about as close as we’ll come to seeing an OKC vibe available in stores later this season. The pair features a generic team motif in royal blue mesh and suede while a black outsole makes this pair perfect for balling in outside. Check out more detailed images below and stay tuned for a Release Date right here on Sneaker News.

Here's Where to Buy the Best Sneakers Releasing in Europe This Weekend

This week is a subdued one for sneaker releases, seeing a smaller number of European-focused shoes than usual, with the Diadora Intrepid OG — created for the brand’s Roberto Baggio-themed collection — a new edition of a familiar sneaker from New Balance, and the return of Nike’s Jewel pack on another classic silhouette making up some of the best of what this week’s drop has to offer. Elsewhere there’s a White Mountaineering and adidas collab as well as Public School adding their own touch to a pair of Air Jordan 12s. Read on below to see the rest of what’s available this week.

Nike Air Max 1 “Jewel” Pack

    Release Price: £104.95 from Nike

Nike continues to rollout the Jewel series, this time focusing its sights on the Air Max 1 model. The brand has stuck to the OG colorways, so this drop is one for those who like their updates subtle and their aesthetics on the minimal side of things.

New Balance 574 Sport Debut Pack

Release Price: £110 from New Balance

New Balance introduces its versatile new 574 Sport pack with the aptly named Debut sneaker. As the name suggests, as well as being the first of the line, the shoe is designed to be suitable for use in a variety of sports, expanding the New Balance athletic remit beyond the running footwear that the brand is more traditionally known for. Additionally, the clean colorway and streamlined design also mean that this flexible variation of the 574 can just as easily work as an everyday shoe.

White Mountaineering x adidas Originals Pack

    Release Price: £169.95 from adidas

White Mountaineering has teamed up with adidas Originals once more this season with this week seeing the sneaker portion of the dual-branded collaboration drop in stores. Featuring the NMD City Trail, NMD_CS2 and Stan Smith CF, the distinctly minimalist vibe and subtly upgraded details to the various familiar silhouettes make this a drop more or less guaranteed to be snapped up. Be sure to be quick on pulling the trigger.

    Diadora Intrepid OG “Espresso Ristretto”

    Release Price: €170 from OVERKILL

Italian sporting brand Diadora pays homage to legendary footballer Roberto Baggio with this new collection of clothing and footwear. The Intrepid OG “Espresso Ristretto” makes a nostalgic nod to the former Juventus F.C. player’s heyday whilst still managing to maintain a contemporary feel — a subtle contrast that makes the sneaker a versatile and wearable option today.

    Air Jordan 2 Decon

    Release Price: £129.95 from Nike

The Air Jordan 2 Decon model is one of Jordan Brand’s newer revamps, taking the classic silhouette and transforming it into a clean and minimal shoe that — with its muted color palette and pleasingly sleek shape — may well attract wearers not previously drawn the brand’s distinct line of high top basketball-based shapes.

    PSNY x Air Jordan 12

    Release Price: £259.95 from Nike

Public School’s highly anticipated collaboration with Jordan Brand has earned itself a much-overdue restock and, while there’s little else to be said about the Jordan 12 makeover that hasn’t been said before, if you’re looking to get your hands on a pair — and there’s plenty of reasons you should be — we’d suggest you might want to strike while the iron’s hot to be in with a chance.

Nike Air More Uptempo “Light Bone”

The Gatorade-Inspired Air Jordan 6 “Like Mike” Is Releasing This Fall

One of the more anticipated Air Jordan releases of 2017 is the Gatorade-inspired Air Jordan 6, and today we have a first look at the version that is said to release to the masses. The white, orange, and green colorway is a throwback to the Gatorade logo colors, while the color-blocking mimics the classic “Carmine” Air Jordan 6 that released back in 1991. The words “If I could be” are stitched onto inner side of the tongue – a tribute to the slogan that helped transform MJ from sports star to global brand. The green suede version of the Jordan 6 “Gatorade” is just a sample and will not release.

    Release Price: £129.95 from Nike

Nike continues to re-release Scottie Pippen’s signature shoe, this time coming out in a “Light Bone” colorway. The trail running-influenced shoe is one for those who have their keen eye on a similarly future-facing pair of Raf Simons Ozweego’s but aren’t quite prepared to pay the hefty price tag that comes as standard when the designer’s name is attached.

Nike Air Max Plus TN Ultra “Tiger” Colorway

    Release Price: £144.95 from Nike

The Air Max Plus TN Ultra is back again in a new colorway. The shoe, which is a cult favorite in London, appears now using in an eye-catching tiger stripe upper with a subtle toe to heel fade. It’s not exactly a low-key design, but it is one that’s perfect for anyone who likes their footwear bold and bright.

    Reebok Instapump Fury Mid

    Release Price: €219.95 from OVERKILL

Dubbed “VaporWave,” the uppers take on a color scheme comprised of varying shades of blue, with the intricate impression work hitting the heel to side panel region. A closer look at the artistic rendering reveals Hokuasi’s “Great Wave” design along with a mountainous landscape and miniature boat sketches floating off in the backdrop. Rounding out the custom rework is the icy blue Air-infused sole unit. For a closer look, drop by Ceeze’s online shop today.
